Cardboard Body Extension

We were tasked with designing a curvilinear or organic three-dimensional appendage for our body, out of cardboard, that greatly transforms your body’s shape in space.

Paper Couture Dress

The project was focused around problem solving. We were tasked with choosing a Couture dress and replicating it out of paper and packaging products.

Through vigorous material studies, we were able to manipulate paper to drape and form to the human figure.

The Frame Project

We were provided with a photo and tasked with creating a frame that promotes the same qualities of the image.

For my photo I focused the alluring qualities of the flower and wanted to design a frame that pulls in your focus.

The Grey Cube

We started with a grey cube model and we asked to create a new form with similar features and dimensions. We had to focus our iterations around the design principles of rhythm and symmetry.

Bird House

This project focused on research for both material and the client. We choose a bird and designed a house that would best fit there needs. From there we were free to explore with form and shape.

Scale & Material Sculpture

The main focus of this project was how changing the material and scale of an object can make it take on new qualities or feelings.

I chose to replicate my Nikon film camera out of walnut.

Plywood Project

The focus of this project was on planning. We were given a 20 x 30 inch sheet of birch plywood and had to sculpt a form focusing on one design principle. The catch was that we had to use 90% of the wood provided.

The design principle that i chose was proportion.

Custom Caravan

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to convert a van into a camper. The outdoors and camping have always been a part of my life so living in a van just made all that easier.

During the summer of 2018 I converted my 2005 Chevy Express can drove in down to the Baja of Mexico.

Nitro Ice Cream Shop

We were given two shipping containers and had to create a workable nitro ice cream shop.

The main challenges with this project were maximising the square footage of the shipping containers while still producing an interesting and realistic workspace.

Tree House

Our tree house had to be designed around one primary function and the form of the house had to reflect that function.

I decided  to design my tree house for viewing. Both nature and for movies. I took inspiration from collapsible lens used on film cameras

Magazine Layout

We were provided with a large amount of text and were given 4 pages to format  in an interesting and legible layout. For my context i choose mountain biking and tried to keep the text and the images well balanced.

Because I choose a black background with white text, I knew legibility would be a challenge. I decided to increase font size and maximise the space used on the space for the text.

Marimekko Gallery Website & Brochure

We were tasked with creating a website and brochure for the Marimekko exhibit at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria.

For my layout of both the website and brochure I chose to highlight the bold patterns with a ripped paper effect. Both to add texture and to compliment the confidence of the patterns.
